The Full Story

Blueroot is a genre-blending rock band born from deep friendship, shared history, and a love for raw, soulful music. Formed in 1996 in the heart of L.A.’s underground scene, the group features Wes Pagano (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keys), Taylor Corbin (Lead Guitar, Vocals, Keys), Ben Reiss (Bass, Vocals), and Sharon Robinson (Drums, Vocals). Their signature sound fuses funky, jam-driven grooves with space rock textures and eclectic layers that reflect decades of growth and evolution.

Wes and Taylor met in 7th grade, forming a bond that carried them through adolescence, trauma, and the start of a music journey that became therapy—especially for Wes, who battled childhood illness and PTSD. As high school approached, Wes met Ben during a summer school class and invited him to join his band, Plastic Gallery. Ben, who attended a neighboring high school, introduced them to Sharon, a standout in the school band.

Blueroot soon became a fixture in the SoCal music scene, sharing early bills with bands like Hoobastank, Incubus, and Hometown Hero (now AWOLNATION). After a short hiatus and a revolving door of drummers, the group connected with Ryan McCusker, a close friend and musical force who played on core releases like In the Hi-Fi (EP) and Holocene Epoch (LP). Their track “Chapow,” produced by the legendary Ron St. Germain, landed on the Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid soundtrack with help from the band 311, who also opened their Hive Studios to the band for recording.

The result: For the Rest of Us, a powerful and heartfelt album due in Summer 2025. It would be Ryan’s last with the band before his passing from cancer in 2022.

In 2024, after years apart, Blueroot reunited. Sharon rejoined behind the kit, and the original spark was reignited. Today, Blueroot returns with renewed purpose, writing, recording, and performing music rooted in friendship, legacy, and soul.
